My experience of the communicative activity

Hello! How was the Karuta game? I hope you enjoyed it. Today,I'm going to reflect my communicative activity.

1) What kind of language I tried to review
I tried to review progressive –ing.

2) What the objectives of my activity were
In the original plan, students listen and write sentences, but I changed the plan into listening and speaking activity. The goal of my activity was being able to listen to what teacher said and communicate in English using picture cards and be used to speaking English.

3) What new things I discovered about conducting communicative activities
In the activity, we did role play, so there were some difficult students in learning English. For example, a student didn’t join the activity, and a student seemed not to be willing to do activity with others and didn’t put the desk to other members’ desks, although I might not have noticed them if JH hadn’t told me so. I didn’t know what to do for these students. The communicative activities may be bitter time for them. If I could have some devices to let them join the activity, it would have been more enjoyable one. I realized that a teacher needs to plan activities in consideration of both students who like English and students who don’t like English or aren’t willing to join the activities.

4) My overall reflection of my experience
I felt how difficult communicative activities are. I need to plan the lesson thinking of students’ characters, explain the activity simply and comprehensively and observe how every student is doing activity thinking “Are there any students who have trouble in doing the activity?”(I didn’t walk around in the class room but it is important because I can look students well, so I want to do it if I teach again.)And I should have looked the clock more to finish the activity on time.

Please comment if you have any reflection. Thank you for reading!

Hi☆I'm rozen whose character in your class was 'You are sometimes picked on by your classmates so you don't like to talk or interact with your other people. If another student offers you help however, you'll accept it.'

I think you are very good painter.
The cards we use while the actiity were very cute so students could enjoy the activity.
And,you explain how to do the ativity with some examples and using scketchbooks were also grate.Such way of explaing is very easy to understand.

And last,I applogize to you that I was one of the person who didn't join the acticity.
I was a person who was buried by other classmates so I couldn't put my desk together with others...
I agree your idea that teachers should walk aroud and help the students who can't do the activity positivery.
Thank you for your demonstration and reflection!

Hi!! Pizza☆This is Kanage.
Thank you for your micro teaching.
Your Karuta is so cute and good picture.
As you wrote in your blog, Teacher needs to plan activities in consideration of both students who like English and students who don’t like English or aren’t willing to join the activities. I think so,too.Communicative activity is difficult.Teacher needs to concider every student whether they can join or not and they can understand or not and so on.
However, you did good micro teaching.I could learned a lot of things from your teaching.
Thanks♪

Hi,pizza☆ This is micchan!!
Thank you for good teaching♪
I thought about your lesson,
◇good points
・Your materials were so interesting, so students took part in your lesson of them own accord.
◇improvement points
・You read the karuta sentences, so you could not see the state of students.
・you had better have students read the karuta sentence by turns.
Good job☺♬

we familiar with karuta and your explaination was explict, so we understood rules soon and could started smoothly. When we did karuta, all of us concentrate announced sentences. I think the repetition karuta sentence was very good way for students who is not good at English. Thank you.

Hi!Pizza.
Thank you for your micro teaching.Your cards were very cute and I felt you prepared for the class very hard.I think good points of your teaching are that you showed example and students could practice various pattern of progressive sentence.
I think it is important to know various students are in the class and plan the class considering it.It is very difficult but teacher has to do his/her best.
Thanks☆

Pizza,
I and everyone else in ETM3 were impressed with the materials you made.
I think that you did a good job introducing the activity. Getting all the students involved in the activity is difficult. I thought that Micchan had some good suggestions on how to get students more involved. Also, there will be times where no matter what you do one or two students will not participate in an activity. In these kinds of situations where I try to get a student interested in an activity but he/she refuses to participate, I respect their right not to participate but try to still make them feel like a member of the class. I also try to make the activity seem very enjoyable so the student wants to participate or pair the student with someone they like so that they might become more willing to participate.

Hello! pizza! This is Wakame.
Thank you for your teaching. I can enjoy your caruta-game. Especially, your hand-made caruta was so nice! I think that students can be intrested in it at a first sight. It is important for teachers to have their own special talents.
In your activity students can enjoy the game, but it is important to make students take part in the activity actively.
In order to do that, teacher should call students to be active or make good rules for this game.
Teachers have to devise the activity according to the student's attitude and skills. Thank you!!

Hi!
This is genzai-sin.Thank you for teaching.I think you prepared so much and your KARUTA was so cute, and I could enjoy it.Because we could teach each other in my groups. But the explanation card for the rule was a little small.I think you would rather use blackboard. And if you speak more loudly, your teaching would improve.
